September 30, 2018

Kuramo Capital Management held its 6th annual Sub-Saharan Africa Day on September 25, 2018 during the 2018 United Nations General Assembly week. Held at the Harvard Club of New York, the event brought together prestigious U.S. and global institutional investors and sub-Saharan Africa political and business leaders. The event was a forum to explore the tremendous Sub-Saharan Africa growth opportunity through discussions with government and private sector leaders.

This year’s forum was kicked off by Grant Harris, CEO of Harris Africa Partners. Having formerly served as the Principal Advisor to President Barack Obama on issues related to Africa, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for African Affairs at the White House, he was well positioned to deliver a thoughtful presentation. In his address, Mr. Harris spoke passionately about his views on the continent and how increase U.S. investment in Africa.

This was followed by the Keynote Panel distinguished policy-makers and entrepreneurs including Strive Masiyiwa, CEO of Econet Group; Jide Zeitlin, CEO of the Keffi Group; and Gbenga Oyebode, CEO of Aluko & Oyebode. The Honorable Dr. Okechukwu Enelamah, Nigeria’s Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, also gave a presentation on Nigeria’s dynamic investment landscape. Our Sub-Saharan Africa Day is part of our long-term commitment to providing insight into the sub-Saharan Africa opportunity. As such, we continue to provide stimulating platforms for reflecting on practical ideas on how to reduce risk in investments, encourage business development and increase capital flow into Africa.
